Meet the ALF Team

Bonnie Ferreira
Chief Executive Officer
Bonnie Ferreira is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Leadership Forum (ALF) Mountain Valley Chapter and brings nearly 30 years of experience in the healthcare and nonprofit sectors.
Ferreira joined ALF as CEO in 2009 and has played a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s mission: to create a growing and diverse network of leaders with the skills, trust, and relationships to work collaboratively for the greater good of the Sacramento region. Under her leadership, ALF’s powerful network—representing a wide range of ethnicities, religions, orientations, and identities—has grown to more than 650 Senior Fellows across 385 organizations, 18 industry sectors, and eight counties.
Prior to joining ALF, Ferreira was recognized for her leadership in expanding access to healthcare for underserved communities. She successfully secured Sacramento’s first Federal Medically Underserved Area (MUA) designation through the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development.
Ferreira later served as Executive Director of Cover the Kids and concurrently as Executive Director of Healthy Kids, Healthy Future, a public nonprofit that managed the Healthy Kids insurance product. In these roles, she worked closely with leading advocacy organizations to develop legislation that helped establish a sustainable statewide children’s health coverage model.
In recognition of her work, Ferreira received a Joint Members Resolution from then–Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg and then–California State Assembly Speaker Karen Bass. Her efforts also led to the creation of the statewide advocacy organization California Children’s Health Initiatives (CCHI), where she served as Chair. Under her leadership, CCHI operated in 29 counties and helped insure more than 150,000 previously uninsured low-income children.
Bonnie lives in Elk Grove California and has two sons, Andres and Sebastian.
